What's next for Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker after their recent clash

The Diamond Dustin Poirier is satisfied with his victory over Dan Hooker at the main event of UFC on ESPN 12. Dustin Poirier really worked hard in his returning match to settle things with a unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-46).

The Former interim lightweight champion returned after a long gap of nine months after his loss to the Eagle Khabib Nurmagomedov but proved that he is still a worthy title fighter.

At the post press conference of UFC on ESPN : Poirier vs Hooker, the Diamond praised Dan Hooker for giving him a main event worth fight which brought him the note of performance of the Night.

Dustin Poirier said that it was really a tough fight and thanked Hooker to bring such a fight. Dan is really a tough guy and at a point of time the match turned in favour of Hooker.

Poirier said Dan is on a rise and reminded Hooker's recent comments where he stated that he would top the division and beat the champ. But Dustin Poirier is the real champ and the Diamond also stated the same.

Even though Poirier is satisfied, something is disturbing him. Poirier didn't wish to see the match in that way. Poirier thinks that he could have been a little bit sharper in that fight. Poirier thinks that he could have done better.

The Diamond also thinks that he can do better and surpass expectations of many people in his next fights.

But, What's next for the Diamond? Tony Ferguson or the winner of Unifier bout?

Dustin Poirier definitely has all Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje and Khabib Nurmagomedov in his list but he is not willing to take any of them sooner. No. Not anyone. Poirier wants a break and he announced that his next fight would be at the end of year or next year.

Poirier wants to spend his win time break with his daughter. Dustin Poirier was sidelined after his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the Unifier bout which left some mental stress on him.

Now, things are going in the way Poirier planned and according to multiple sources, he may appear to the octagon again after the Unifier bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.

On other hand, Dan Hooker isn't upset with his loss to Dustin Poirier. Hooker learned something new, Hooker learned how things go at the top line.

After facing Dustin Poirier, Hooker shared a video on Instagram where he was shown wounded. Hooker stated that he was alright and got a couple of stitches on the eye which is part and parcel of the sport.

With an injury on his face, Dan Hooker will move to his domicile nation New Zealand where he must be quarantined for fourteen days due to global pandemic travel protocols.

As far as Hangman's professional career, He is set to follow Poirier. Hooker may return next year and according to various sources, Hooker may face The Irish dragon Paul Felder in his next match.

But there are few other reports which claim that he may face the Raging AI Al Iaquinta or Cowboy Donald Cerrone.

What's your opinion on the lightweight division? Will Dustin Poirier face Tony Ferguson in his returning match or would he target the winner of the Unifier bout? And what do you think about Dan Hooker? Will he climb the ladder to reach the top or will Paul Felder's curse follow him?
