If Khabib is the case at UFC 249, Gaethje won't be ready

Later this match was scrapped when the UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov forced to leave the game due to travel restrictions in Russia. Later, The highlighter, Justin Gaethje entered into the scene and the winner of this fight will face Khabib Nurmagomedov in late 2020 or beginning of 2021.

Justin Gaethje strictly said that he wouldn't accept the fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov on May 9 if it was the case because there would be no time to prepare for the undefeated champ.

In a recent interview, Justin Gaethje said that he doesn't think he would have taken the fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov if there it is on short notice. Justin Gaethje said he agreed on the fight because it was against Tony Ferguson. Justin Gaethje (21-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) revealed that training for a style matchup like Khabib Nurmagomedov on a few week’s notice would have been far from ideal.

Justin Gaethje said as considered for matchup-wise, He thinks he has a much better chance of hitting Tony Ferguson than Khabib, In the first two, three rounds. Justin Gaethje explained in the interview that he at least need at least ten weeks to prepare for the undefeated champ. He needs to work out, Mentally prepares for Khabib to take him down. Justin Gaethje said that he has been training his whole life. But, There is certain lactic acid that builds up that we should count for.

Justin Gaethje said no matter what, This is not perfect circumstances to fight and added a fight is a fight. Justin said that when it was on fourteen days or twenty days notice, It is much different. He said that he has trained for five weeks to train, Which he didn't ask for. Justin is still unprepared for Tony Ferguson. As far as Tony, He is prepared for a big opponent and this shift wouldn't affect him in any way.

The odds are in favour of Tony Ferguson. According to sources, Tony Ferguson is favoured at -176, while the odds are against Justin Gaethje considering him the underdog with +145. This stats mean, If you put 176 on Tony Ferguson, You would get 100 if Tony Ferguson wins. And if you put 100 on Justin Gaethje, You would win 145 if Justin Gaethje wins.
