Amanda Nunes Backs Out of May 9 UFC Card, Says June Date Possible


Amanda Nunes, the reigning, defending, undisputed dual division women's champion has recently announced that she won't take part of UFC 249 as she didn't have enough training which later turned out to be an injury. both reasons are enough to push her out of May card. Now Amanda Nunes has enough time to prepare for Felicia Spencer.

Amanda Nunes was originally scheduled to fight Felicia Spencer on May 9, UFC 249 and recently it was confirmed that Amanda Nunes was out of the card because of lack of practice. UFC 249 is three days from today and it is moving without a top card. Amanda Nunes already said that the date was given too soon and she is unable to train in this difficult time. Later after this announcement, Dan Lambert, Amanda Nunes' agent, confirmed that Amanda Nunes is troubled with an injury which completely didn't heel which forced Amanda Nunes to back down.

The Lioness, Amanda Nunes recently expressed her difficulties in training due to the global pandemic. She said that It's not many people, just her and a couple of people that are going to be on the same card as hers. She added that everyone has a separate training and she does training with her coach, one on one. She keeps in shape like that. She goes to the gym only once in the morning and does everything. And in the current situation, she is unable to go to the gym and get trained by her coach which made her drop the match on May 9.

Earlier it was stated that Amanda Nunes will meet Felicia Spencer at octagon in June. But the exact date was not confirmed. Recently it was announced in a report that the lioness will be live on June 6 to put her featherweight title on the line against Felicia Spencer. The location for June 6 match card is yet to be announced.

Amanda Nunes will defend her featherweight title for the first time since dethroning Cris Cyborg in 2018. Amanda Nunes last year defended her bantamweight title twice. First, She retained the title against Holly Holm the last December, She retained it against Germaine de Randamie. The Faenom, Felicia Spencer, became the number one contender for the featherweight championship after defeating Zarah Fairn.

Now there are officially two-match cards for June 6. First, It was announced that Raphael Assuncao and Cody Garbrandt will square off on this date. now other main event added to this match card in the way of Amanda Nunes and Felicia Spencer
