Yuvraj Singh says current cricket stars can't keep up.
Yuvraj Singh is the man who defeated cancer. He became the man of the tournament in the 2011 world cup. He has done an incredible performance in his lifetime and stands as an inspiration to many of the young generation superstars including his favorite Rishabh Pant.
Currently, he is not so busy and has a settled life on social media due to ongoing global pandemic situations. He is active on Instagram and Twitter. Recently we saw him asking Ravi Shastri to tag him and Dhoni for the world cup tweet and replying "no doubt about it sister" to Archana Vijaya's laziness post.
He also joined Rohit Sharma in Instagram live and when Rohit Sharma asked the difference between current superstars and past superstars, he exploded that past generation superstars are very disciplined, have a lot of dignity and far better than current superstars.
He said to Rohit Sharma that when he came into the team, his seniors were very disciplined. Yes, there were no social media platforms so there were no distractions to us and this is the same in Rohit Sharma's case.
He explained that there was a particular discipline and attitude that Indian cricketers had to carry during their time, how they speak to people, media. Because they were the mark India and everyone follows them.
But in this generation this is not possible anymore. He already told the Indian cricket team to be careful about their manners. Few lost them in television shows and few lost them in social media. Yuvraj Singh feels that after playing for India, cricketers have to be more careful about their image. He says that in the third generation, There are only two seniors, Virat and Rohit. They are the only ones currently who are playing in all the formats and the rest of the guys show up only on full moon and no moon nights.
Yuvraj points out the young generation by saying that he just feels there are very few guys to look up to and he feel that a sense of respect towards seniors, that has become a thin line now. He said that "anyone says anything to anyone brother"
Yuvraj said the players during his time were conscious of whatever they were doing and current stars are unconscious about the society.
He thinks that this generation superstars because of social media, party scenes, etc cetera are unable to keep up like their time. He added that they couldn't even think about that in their times.
He mentioned about the cultless act of Pandya and Rahul and said that it wouldn't happen in their times. Rohit added wind to Yuvraj Singh's fury comments saying that the discipline is "very light" at the moment.
Yuvraj said that when he came into the team, there were so many old stars and there were few youngsters like Piyush Chawla and Suresh Raina. He said that now he always speaks to young talented Pant a lot. Yuvraj revealed that there was so much scrutiny on Pant and he got worked up.
Yuvraj also said that Sachin advised him once saying 'if you perform on field, everything else will follow'. He said that when he interacted with young generation stars, He felt most of them did not want to play Test cricket which is real cricket. They are happy playing 50 overs cricket. In future, it may be worse, They may only play 20-20 or 10-10.
He advised that he feels even national players should play domestic cricket like Ranji and state matches if they are not playing for the national team, It would give them valuable experience.
