Why WWE Is More Popular Than MMA
World Wrestling Entertainment(WWE) and Mixed Martial Arts are very popular sports in the fight business. Many people say that their origin exists "before Christ" and there is no proper evidence where this sport came from. Few people say that WWE came from Egypt and some others say that wrestling originated in India.
The history of MMA dated back to old Greek times. They used to play pankration, a game of fist fight where opponents can do anything except biting and poking eyes. Later, few changes were made and added additional rules and techniques and formed Mixed Martial Arts.
On the other hand, WWE had several rules and it's not like a street fight in which match goes until one goes down. People are more interested in seeing those fights like Kick Boxing, Wrestling, fistfight formed Mixed Martial Arts. During those times people like to see that blood matches and interested in mixed martial arts rather than WWE where there are full of rules. Time changed and people's mindset also changed.
In the current generation, people are not hanging on to one element of emotion. They like to see more elements like stories, actions, drama.
For instance, in WWE, if there is a match, there is a high probability that the fan-favorite would win. But this doesn't take place in mixed martial arts. In mixed martial arts, the dominant one wins.
People nowadays aren't just liking only fight. They are more interested in seeing some drama, which is less in mixed martial arts. They want to see emotions like love, sorrow, anger, heroism, terror, surprise, peace, etc,.
If you are a mixed martial arts fan, then you can't get most of these emotions. We can see only the dominant attitude in the octagon and friendly chat outside by Mixed Martial Arts players.
Very few people are interested in seeing Daniel and Salina Cormier in the ring. But almost everyone is interested in seeing Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes together in the ring.
We can see surprises in wrestling rings, that mixed emotions and nostalgic moments. Only the wrestling industry could create it. How did you feel when Seth Rollins betrayed shield? That emotion. How did you feel when the shield reunited? That emotion.
Probably Vince McMahon should be a psychologist or a mind reader. He created a dramatic wrestling situation for which the audience fell. That terrifying moment when children see fiend. These are priceless moments.
Only hard-core fighting fans are interested in seeing Mixed Martial Arts nowadays. People like to see some cowardly fighters like Miz. Let him be like that. No one could imagine if he fights like Brock Lesnar. How many people saw Miz questioning "who is your favorite wrestler?" "Roman Reigns". "Second favourite?" And the list goes on.
If all these emotions are fully loaded in mixed martial arts then it would be a fan favorite. Did you listen to Ronda Rousey saying WWE is scripted? Yeah and we like scripted one very much but still WWE is more popular than MMA.
