Full fledged Women's IPL

Recently, the Indian women's cricket team had a great performance in the women's world cup by standing in second place. Australia wins the tournament with 85000 audiences on the ground. Gradually, our women's team is developing. The players, their stats, media's support to women's cricket, all are increasing. This is just media reports. Still, there are thousands who are suffering.

Women's IPL

Women's T20 league was introduced in 2018 with only two teams named supernovas and trailblazers. In 2019 an additional team was introduced named velocity. In both seasons supernovas had a blaze. Even though two seasons happened there is still no craze for it. People didn't like to watch. However, it reached the expected viewers. Women don't deserve this, they deserve a lot. This writing can't describe the pain they suffer.

Men's IPL is a sensation. Boys, girls, children, grannies, everyone watches it. But in the case of women's T20 league, even women don't watch it. Smriti Mandhana, Harampreet Kaur, Mithali raj are sacrificing their strength here and we should pay them back. It is real that the BCCI can't earn much money because of women's IPL. But, BCCI is a section 8 company and it should only consider it's members' benefit irrespective of criticism they get.

Our national women's team doesn't have a huge number of players to organize eight teams in the IPL. This is because women are not sent out due to their safety. If men behave properly then this doesn't happen. Saying is worthless, we should respect women.

Mithali Raj responds

Women players have been asking for years to conduct women's IPL. But they are unable to get what they want.

Recently, Mithali Raj asked BCCI to come with a plan to conduct women's IPL at least from 2021. She said that she personally feels that BCCI should start IPL by the following year. Even if there are small scale views and some changes in rules have 5-6 international players in the first edition rather than 3-4 like in the men's team.

Women's T20 league has been there for 2 years but it's not full-fledged. There should be a full-fledged IPL like men's IPL. She agreed that they can't get more Indian players. But the key is to get it from existing franchises. She said that we can't wait forever. We have to begin at some point, and gradually increase the viewers. We can keep on upgrading the league and bring it down to 4 foreign players.

Mithali raj also addresses on Shafali Verma T20 exploits. She said that it's not a bad idea to consider Shafali for ODI. Shafali is young, but it should not stop her in her career.
