There is a tradition to lit the Olympic torch before a few months. The lighting ceremony started on March,12,2020. The torch is lit near the temple of Hera, Olympia, Greece. The torch is a symbol of purity and is not lit by artificial means. It is lit with the help of a parabolic mirror which acts as a magnifying glass and with the help of sunlight.

There is a custom to handover this torch to the host country of the Olympics. The flame handover took place at Panathenaic stadium on march 19 at 11:30 am local time of Greece. The torch was lit by a high priestess and then handed over to the Tokyo organizing committee represented by Naoko Imato. Torch reaches Japan today and the torch relay will happen from March 24.

Even though the torch lightning ceremony took place many members are against this decision. Japanese Olympic commission member Kaori Yamaguchi has called for the postponement of the Olympics. She said that the Olympics shouldn't be conducted in this situation where the world can't enjoy it. She also said that many athletes from America and Europe are not prepared for this situation and are not unable to qualify. Many sports experts also called for the postponement of the Olympics. Things change with time, who knows? Wait and watch.
